Most of these German space words already look familiar

If your child is new to German, this is a kind sheet to begin with. PLANET, ASTRONAUT and MARS are spelled exactly as they are in English, so the hunt opens with three quick wins. That matters more than it sounds. A beginner who circles something in the first minute keeps scanning the rest of the grid instead of deciding the page is beyond them.

The remaining three ask a little more. KOMET is the comet with a K, the letter German reaches for where English so often writes C. GALAXIE finishes in ie rather than y. RAKETE is the rocket, and its final e is sounded rather than silent, so say it as ra-kay-teh and your child hears three beats instead of two. That last point catches out most English speakers, adults included, and it is easier to fix now than later.

The pictures keep everything anchored: your child looks at the rocket, reads RAKETE, then goes searching. It is worth doing this one before the harder themes, because the near-identical words build a bit of nerve. Afterwards, ask which of the six looked English and which did not. Noticing that difference is the start of a real feel for how German spells things, and it costs nothing beyond a minute of talking once the circling is done.
