Color by Code Worksheet

Color by Code: Sums from 11 to 20

Kindergarten Operations & Algebraic Thinking Aligned standard — coming soon

This color by code worksheet crosses the big bridge past ten: each of its twelve shapes holds an addition problem whose sum lands between 11 and 20. The child adds, finds the answer among the teen numbers in the four-color legend, and colors the shape to match — a dozen sums, a dozen careful legend checks, one finished picture at the end of it, earned entirely with math.

Sums beyond ten are where addition stops being countable on fingers and starts leaning on strategy — making ten first, counting on from the larger number, or simply knowing the fact cold. This page gives those strategies a friendly workout with a built-in reason to be accurate. The teen answers also sharpen numeral reading: 13 and 15 sitting in the same legend punish a careless glance, so the child learns to read two-digit answers with real attention. It is a genuine stretch inside a familiar, crayon-friendly format, which is exactly what a confident young mathematician wants.

The PDF prints free for as many pictures as the practice needs. The mixed add and subtract page is its within-10 companion, and number bonds work makes a strong partner routine for children who like to see exactly how the teen sums come apart.
