Find and Count Worksheet

Find and Count with Insects and Bugs

Kindergarten Visual scanning and counting Aligned standard — coming soon

Look closely and keep track. This Kindergarten worksheet fills the page with an ant, a bee and a ladybug and asks the child to circle the cricket, cross out the dragonfly, draw a box around the ant and count the spider. To finish, they scan the scene for each target in turn, find every one, and do the right thing with it. The first job — circle the cricket — sets the pattern: search the whole bugs scene, ignore what does not match, and act only on what does.

Picking out and counting one kind of picture from a crowd builds the careful eye and the one-to-one counting that early learning rests on. The jobs here — circle the cricket, cross out the dragonfly, draw a box around the ant and count the spider — make the child search the bugs scene repeatedly, each time for a new target, deciding what matches and keeping a tally. It is gentle, concrete work, but it is exactly the visual attention and number practice Kindergarten is meant to grow.

Children who like a busy bugs scene enjoy working down the jobs, and finishing each one — the marking, the crossing out, the counting — gives a clear win. When this feels easy, try Find and Count with kitchen tools, or Find and Count with musical instruments. You can also browse every Find and Count worksheet or the whole bugs collection for kindergarten — each sheet prints cleanly or plays online for free, and the more a child searches and counts, the sharper their eye for finding what matters becomes.
