Finish the Horse Drawing

Kindergarten Art PDF only Aligned standard — coming soon

A whole horse stands on the left of this page, and on the right stands the same horse unfinished: its outline and eyes are there, but the mane, the face lines, the hooves and the lines of the legs and tail are missing. A small ring badge marks the unfinished one. The child looks from the complete horse to the incomplete one, draws in what is missing, and then draws a horse of their own on the big paper below. There is no mirror line and no half picture here; this kindergarten page is about comparing two drawings of the same horse.

Finding what is missing and drawing it is observation and drawing in one move. The child must look at the finished model part by part, which teaches the parts of the animal, and then produce the lines in the right place, which teaches control. The third box lets the child try the whole horse once the parts are familiar.

Print it and draw with a pencil; nothing is marked. The missing lines are chosen so that the gap is obvious to a child, and the ring and dot badges simply tell the two horses apart. The base page of the how-to-draw family gives the full four steps instead of a model to complete. The child draws the animal from its own steps; symmetry drawing, where half a picture is mirrored, and grid-copy pixels have their own pages.
