Your child hunts for SOLE, NUVOLA and four more Italian weather words

This sheet asks a child to find six Italian weather words in a grid of letters, using the pictures alongside as the clue list. The sun points to SOLE, the cloud to NUVOLA, and the rest follow the same way. Because the pictures show things a young child already understands, the Italian word is the only new part, and finding it whole — reading it, recognising it, ringing it — is what fixes it in memory rather than a list read once and forgotten.

The interesting difficulty here is that two of the six are near-twins. SOLE means sun and SOLEGGIATO means sunny; NUVOLA means cloud and NUVOLOSO means cloudy. A child who spots the first four letters and stops will circle the wrong answer, so this grid quietly teaches them to read all the way to the end of a word. PIOVOSO and FREDDO stand on their own and are usually the first two crossed off.

Print it the morning you first talk about the weather in Italian, or keep it for a wet afternoon indoors. Ten minutes is usually enough for all six. When your child has finished, ask them to say each word aloud while pointing at its picture — SOLEGGIATO takes four beats, so-leg-gia-to, and a word said twice out loud is half-learned by the time it next appears.
