Maze Puzzle
Picture Maze: Help the Hedgehog Reach the Apple Tree
An autumn orchard fills this kindergarten maze. A hedgehog waits at the green start circle in the bottom corner, and an apple tree stands at the far corner beside a little flag. Between them, light sandy paths curl through the grass, split, and split again. Some of the side paths run a long way toward the tree before they stop, so a child who rushes meets a dead end and has to come back. On the grassy islands between the paths sit a mouse, a snail, a ladybug, a butterfly, a mushroom and a few meadow flowers, all drawn in the same soft style as the hedgehog.
The job is to draw one line along the paths from the hedgehog to the apple tree. That asks for two things at once. The eyes plan ahead, following a path to see where it goes before the pencil commits, and the hand keeps the line inside a winding road. Teachers of five-year-olds will recognise both: looking before acting, and the steady pencil control that later carries letters. The paths are wide enough for a crayon and the turns are gentle, so the page stretches attention without frustrating small hands.
Every copy prints as a PDF, opens as a screen version where the child drags a finger along the paths and presses Check, and comes with an answer key that shows the way in colour. This is the first page of a family of twenty picture mazes: a first maze for preschool, a big jungle maze, a river, tunnels under the ground, town streets, babies finding their mothers, tangled kite strings, and mazes that follow the alphabet, numbers, sums and first sounds. These are picture mazes with a story; square-grid mazes, dot-to-dot and word sorting have their own pages.
