Count the images, add the number, and write your answer!
Six problems where the child counts the pictured objects, then adds a written number. All numbers stay within 10, so children can work from counting or from known number facts. One quantity is a numeral rather than a picture, which is where counting-on begins rather than counting everything. The pictures are Elephant, Panda, Zebra, Giraffe, Mouse and Koala.
5 + 1, 2 + 4, 1 + 1, 3 + 4, 5 + 1, 5 + 1.
In pairs, two children take alternate problems and say how they worked each one out.
