Maze Puzzle
Babies and Mothers Maze: Help Every Baby Find Its Mother
Three farm babies stand in a row at the top of a summer hayfield: a chick, a calf and a foal, each by a numbered start circle. Lower down, three mothers wait in round paddocks: a hen, a cow and a horse. No baby stands right above its own mother, so nobody can simply go straight down. Three separate roads wind across the field between them, interleaved like fingers, and each road has its own little side turns.
This page joins two kindergarten skills. First the child matches each baby to its mother, which is already a small vocabulary lesson about animal families. Then the child follows the roads to find which one really takes each baby home. The roads never touch, but they run close together and cross the field side by side, so the eye has to stay on one road from start to end. Doing the three babies one after the other, with a different colour for each, keeps the routes apart and makes the page easy to check.
The page prints as a PDF, works as a screen version where the child drags from each baby to its mother (a baby at the wrong home is shown at once), and comes with an answer key with each route in its own colour. In the same family, the tangled kite strings ask for following lines through crossings, and the first maze with the puppy is a gentler start. These are picture mazes with a story; square-grid mazes, dot-to-dot and word sorting have their own pages.
