Christmas Picture Tracing: Trace Round Every Bauble and Star

Kindergarten Fine Motor & Pre-Writing PDF only Aligned standard — coming soon

It is Christmas Eve in a cozy living room. A tall Christmas tree in a big pot stands in the middle with a star on top, and round baubles and little stars hang on its branches. Two wrapped gifts sit beside it, an armchair waits in the corner, and through the window a moon and stars shine in the night sky. The scene is indoors, with no snow, so it fits every family's Christmas, in winter or in summer. A long rug lies in front of the tree. The room and the tree are dashed; only the armchair's little flowers and the rug's fringe are solid.

The real practice on this page is in the small shapes. Each bauble and each star is a closed shape that has to end exactly where it began, and there are nine of them, small but well spaced. Closing small round shapes is the movement children need for letters such as a, d, g and o, and the festive setting makes the repetition feel like decorating the tree rather than doing exercises. After tracing, the child can color the baubles in bright colors.

This printable PDF suits kindergarten and makes a calm December activity for class or home. Pair it with the trace-and-color picnic for more coloring, or with the summer postcard if your Christmas falls in summer. Picture tracing follows the outline of whole pictures; abstract line practice, step-by-step drawing and numbered dot-to-dot have their own pages.
