Days of the Week in Order

Kindergarten Days and months (readiness) PDF only Aligned standard — coming soon

This kindergarten days-of-the-week worksheet prints the seven day names in one tall column, scrambled: Wednesday at the top, then Tuesday, Friday, Thursday, Saturday, Monday, and Sunday at the bottom. Beside each name sits a dashed square, and the square next to Sunday is already filled with a 1, shaded teal so it stands out. The child reads each name, works out where it falls in the week, and writes 2 to 7 in the empty squares. Nothing else is on the page: no pictures, no word bank, no writing lines, just names and numbers.

Ordering by writing a rank number, rather than copying names, is the right first step for a child who can recognize the day names but cannot yet spell them. The given 1 fixes the start of the week (Sunday, as on an American calendar) so every other answer follows from it, and because the column is scrambled the child cannot just count down the page. The teacher watches what happens after Saturday: a child who reaches 7 and then looks for the day after Saturday has understood that the week is a cycle, not a list.

It prints on one sheet in portrait, no color needed. Use it after the morning calendar routine, when the names are fresh, and let the child say the week aloud once with a finger on each number. The missing days page is the natural next step, where the child writes the names into gaps on a ladder, and the months of the year in order page repeats this exact numbering act on the twelve-month cycle. Reading a month grid and answering date questions is the calendar family at grade 2.
