Feelings Worksheet
Draw the Feeling Face
Four big cream cards fill this Kindergarten page, two across and two down, and each holds nothing but a feeling word in large teal type and an empty circle beneath it: scared, angry, happy, sad. There are no printed faces to copy. The child reads the word and draws, inside the circle, a face that shows that feeling — the mouth, the eyes, the brows. The circles are wide enough for a whole hand's drawing, and the four words are the four feelings a five-year-old can draw apart from one another.
Producing a face is a different skill from recognising one. On the matching pages of the feelings family the child points at what an artist drew; here they must decide what angry looks like and put it on paper, which means thinking about which features change. Most children get happy and sad from the mouth alone. Angry needs the brows to slope inward and scared needs the eyes to open wide, and a child who draws the same round-mouth face for both has found the exact thing to talk about. Ask them to make the face in a mirror first and then draw what they see.
Print one per child; crayons work better than pencil here because the circles are large. The page has no answer key by design — any face that reads as the word is right. Use it after the match-the-face-to-the-word page, and pair it with the how-do-I-feel-today page, where the same drawing circle appears once and the feeling is the child's own.
