Times Tables Worksheet
Times Table of 3: The First Real Memory Work
This worksheet takes on the times table of 3, laid out as the complete ladder from 1×3 to 10×3 with an answer box for every fact. The child multiplies step by step — 3, 6, 9, 12 — writing each product in its box. Unlike the 2s, the 5s and the 10s, the 3s hand over no chant, no doubles shortcut and no ending pattern; row by row, this table must actually be learned.
That is exactly why the 3s matter so much: they are the first table where memorization itself is the skill being built. With the crutches gone, the child has to develop the tools that will carry every hard table after this one — climbing from a known fact to an unknown neighbor (3×6 is 3×5 and three more), noticing that the answers alternate odd and even, leaning on the ladder's structure when recall stumbles. Educators often call the 3s the honesty table, because it shows precisely which facts are known cold and which were being reconstructed on the fly. Working through it in order first, then out of order, is the classic two-stage route to real fluency.
The PDF prints free — a fact a day sticks better than the page in one sitting. Once the 3s hold firm, the times table of 4 arrives with a gift the 3s never offered: a doubling shortcut through the already-mastered 2s.
