Animal Maze: Help One Friend Find the Other

Kindergarten Visual Perception & Pencil Control Aligned standard — coming soon

In this edition of the maze worksheet, the story is all animals: one animal stands at the entrance at the top of the maze, a second waits at the goal below, and the child's pencil is what reunites them. Draw one continuous path through the corridors, back out of the dead ends, and bring the two friends together — that is the whole warm-hearted job, start to finish.

A maze gains a surprising amount of power from a reason. 'Help the rabbit reach its friend' recruits empathy, and a child who cares about the outcome will persist noticeably longer through wrong turns than one solving an abstract grid. Under the story, the classic maze benefits run at full strength: scanning ahead before committing, holding a plan while the pencil moves, and steering cleanly between the walls. The animal pair also invites a little storytelling afterward — who they are, why they were apart — which turns one worksheet into ten minutes of rich language.

Print the free PDF and let the reunion happen as often as it is requested. The fruit maze offers the same journey with a snack at the end, and the easy, hard and giant mazes ladder the challenge up for animal rescuers who want more.
