Dot-to-Dot Worksheet
Dot to Dot 1-20: Connect the Dots to Find the Hidden Picture
This Kindergarten dot to dot 1-20 worksheet hides one picture inside twenty numbered dots spread across a large cream panel. Only dot 1 is ringed in orange, so the child knows exactly where to place the pencil. From there the job is to draw a straight line to 2, then to 3, and on up to 20, at which point the outline closes and the hidden figure — a heart, a star, a rocket — is suddenly there on the page. Along the bottom runs a counting strip, 1 to 20 in little circles, that the child can touch to find the next number before hunting for it among the dots.
Connecting dots in order is counting made physical. The child has to know which number comes next, find it visually among nineteen others, and steer a pencil to it — three small tasks that reinforce each other, and the picture only appears when the counting sequence is right. A skipped number shows up immediately as a line cutting across the shape, which makes the page self-checking without any adult marking. A teacher watching the child work sees at once which stretch of the count is shaky; the teens are where the pencil usually pauses. The counting strip is there so the child can rehearse the sequence rather than guess it.
Print the PDF free and let the child color the finished picture; the reward for correct counting should be visible. The easier level numbers only the dots 1 to 10 and pre-prints the rest of the outline, so short counters still get a complete picture. The harder level starts the count at 11 and runs to 30, asking the child to count on from a number other than one. When the sequence to 20 is solid, the copy the grid picture page moves the same careful pencil work onto squares, and the number of the day page takes a single number apart.
