Word Scramble Worksheet
Word Scramble with Music: Unscramble the Word
Each picture hides a word with its letters out of order, and the child puts them back together. Working through Music, the child names each one, sounds it out, and slides the jumbled letters into the order that spells it correctly. Because the letters are all provided, the puzzle is purely the order — a gentle, focused way to practise that words have a fixed letter sequence. The everyday Music make each word short and clear, so a child can hear every sound, find its place, and feel the quiet satisfaction of a word coming back together.
Matching each sound in a word to its letter and then getting those letters in order is the spelling foundation Grade 1 is built on. A scramble sheet rehearses it cleanly: the child knows the word from the picture and has to arrange its spelling. Keeping the Music short and familiar means a child can stretch the word out and hear every sound in turn, building real independence with short, regular words.
Children who like unscrambling Music settle into the sounding-out, and putting each word back together gives a small, real win. When this feels easy, try the word scramble with another set of pictures, or unscramble the words in a fresh theme. You can also browse every word scramble worksheet or the whole Music collection for grade 1 — each sheet prints cleanly or plays online for free, with no timers and no scores, just a child working at their own pace. And every word a child rebuilds makes the next one a little quicker to put in order.
