About this activity

Wiggles the caterpillar hands over scrambled word tiles — 'big,' 'dog,' 'The,' 'runs.' — and a picture of the subject, and the child arranges them into "The big dog runs." It's a free, interactive Grade 1 grammar activity that runs in the browser with no account.

The whole idea is that a complete sentence has an order and a shape: it starts with a capital letter, has a naming word and an action word in the middle, and ends with a period. The capital is baked onto the starting tile and the period onto the last word, so the child focuses on putting the words in an order that makes sense — building real, complete sentences like "A little cat naps" and "Six brown hens peck" rather than just stacking words.

It is aligned to Common Core L.1.1.j — producing and expanding complete simple sentences (with L.K.1.b nouns and verbs). No timer, no score — just calm, playful practice.
