About this activity
A double ten-frame shows a group of fruit counters, and the child writes the numeral for how many — counting anywhere from 0 to 20 and typing the number on the keypad. Because a full frame is ten, the child can count on for the teen and twenty numbers. This free, interactive Kindergarten counting activity runs in the browser with nothing to install and no account.
This activity joins counting to writing. The child reads a quantity that is already laid out across two ten-frames and names it with a written numeral, including the harder two-digit numbers past ten. Because a full frame is ten, the child can count on from ten for the teen and twenty numbers rather than starting at one every time, and then record what they counted as a written number — the connection between amount and symbol.
It is aligned to Common Core K.CC.A.3 — writing numbers from 0 to 20 and representing a number of objects with a written numeral. No timer, no score — just calm, playful practice.
