Beginning Sounds with Forest Creatures — Letter E

The letter E sets this beginning-sound hunt. Among the forest creatures, the child marks every name that opens with the sound E makes — earthworm and eagle. They test each picture by saying it: earthworm starts with E, so it counts. Listening for an opening sound and linking it to its letter — never spotting a printed E — is the early-reading skill this Kindergarten sheet rehearses.

Beginning-sound matching is phonics, not visual searching: the child is not looking for the shape of E on the page, they are listening for which forest creatures START with its sound and connecting that sound to the letter.
