About this activity

The child hears a common high-frequency word spoken aloud, then taps the matching written word among look-alike choices — everyday sight words like was, the, of, you, see, and, go, and like that appear constantly in early texts. It's a free, interactive Kindergarten reading activity that runs right in the browser on tablets, phones, and computers, with nothing to install and no sign-up.

The big idea is recognizing common words by sight, instantly, so reading can flow. Many of these words do not sound out neatly, so the wrong choices are close cousins — was next to saw, of next to off — and the child has to know the exact word, not just a similar shape. Hearing the word and finding it in print connects sound to spelling for the words children meet most.
