About this activity

The child hears the ending chunk of a word and sees its first letter, blends the two together into a word, then taps the picture it names — for c + 'at', the child blends to 'cat' and finds the cat. It's a free, interactive Kindergarten reading activity that plays right in the browser with no sign-up.

The big idea is blending — pulling a first sound and a word-ending together to make a whole word. One of the picture choices rhymes with the answer (a bat sits next to the cat), so the rime alone is not enough; the first letter is the clue that decides which word it is. The child listens, blends, and reads the picture rather than matching letters on the page.

It is aligned to Common Core RF.K.2.c — blending and segmenting the onsets and rimes of single-syllable spoken words. No timer, no score — just calm, playful practice.
