Find the Differences Worksheet

Find 5 Differences: Dog in the Garden

Kindergarten Visual Perception Aligned standard — coming soon

A dog sits in a garden twice on this kindergarten page: picture 1 on top, picture 2 right under it, and a column of five tick boxes beside them. The two pictures are the same scene drawn from the same art, so a child's eye slides from one to the other without hunting for the matching spot. Five things are different in picture 2. On the sheet shown a butterfly has been swapped for another, a hummingbird has turned round, a cloud has grown, the flower is a different flower and the ladybug is bigger; another copy of this find-the-differences page draws its five changes afresh, so the kinds vary (something gone, something new, something bigger or smaller, something moved or flipped) while the count stays five.

The task is comparison, not guessing. A child looks at one part of picture 1, finds the same part in picture 2 and decides whether it still matches. That is the visual discrimination work that later carries reading (b against d, 6 against 9) and careful looking in science, done here with a dog, clouds and flowers. The tick boxes turn the search into a count: five boxes, five finds, and the child knows when the page is done.

This is the base page of the family. Its siblings change one thing each: three big differences for a first attempt, coloured pictures, seven or ten differences across two pairs, a secret count, words to tick, a mirrored picture, missing things, picture pairs and a writing page. Every version prints as a PDF, opens as a tap-the-differences screen on a tablet, and comes with an answer key that rings each change with a number. These pages compare two pictures of one scene; mirror drawing, colouring by number and finding the odd one out have pages of their own.
