Find the Differences Worksheet
Find the Differences in Color: Frog at the Pond
The pond is painted on this page. A green frog sits on a blue pond under a yellow sun, with a purple butterfly, hummingbirds, a red tulip and two chicks, and the whole scene appears twice. Five things differ in the coloured bottom picture, and at least one of them is a change of colour only: the frog itself may turn purple while everything else about it stays put, the sun may give way to a moon, a flower may be swapped for another, and a chick or a cloud may grow or shrink. Colour is the point of this kindergarten page, so it is printed in colour and reads best that way; on a black-and-white printer the colour change is lost and the base page serves better.
Spotting that an object is the same shape in the same place but a different colour is a harder comparison than noticing something gone. The child has to hold the colour of the top frog in mind while looking at the bottom one. The five tick boxes keep the count honest, and the page asks the child to look closely at colours as well as shapes.
Every page in this find-the-differences family prints as a PDF, opens as a tap screen on a tablet and comes with an answer key that rings the five changes. This is the one coloured page of the family; its siblings are line drawings. These pages compare two pictures of one scene; colouring by number uses the same scenes for a different task, and mirror drawing and odd-one-out puzzles have pages of their own.
