Find the Differences Worksheet

Picture Pairs: One Difference in Every Row

Kindergarten Visual Perception Aligned standard — coming soon

Instead of one big scene, this page cuts a garden into three close-ups and shows each of them twice, side by side in a row. In every row exactly one thing is different in the right-hand picture, and a tick box ends the row. The windows are large and the objects few, so a child can take one row at a time: on the copy shown a hummingbird has grown in the first row, the sun is gone from the second and a chick is bigger in the third. The find-the-differences idea arrives here in its smallest, calmest form for kindergarten.

One difference per row removes the question of when to stop. The child compares two small pictures, finds the single change, circles it, ticks the box and moves down. Because a difference may be something gone, the instruction asks for the place that is different rather than the thing, and a circle around an empty patch of paper is a right answer.

The answer key rings each change; the tap screen stacks the two pictures of a row and asks the child to tap the one place that differs. From here the three-differences and five-differences pages of the family put the comparison back into one whole scene. These pages compare two pictures of one scene; mirror drawing, colouring by number and odd-one-out puzzles have their own pages.
