Vowel Tracing: A, E, I, O, U

This tracing worksheet gathers the five vowels — A, E, I, O and U — onto one page. Each vowel gets its own handwriting line: dashed capitals to trace first, and then the empty space at the end where the child writes the letter with no dashes underneath. It is a short, focused set, and a wonderfully varied one for the hand: the slants of A, the straight combs of E and I, the perfect circle of O, and the dip-and-rise of U.

Pulling the vowels out for their own session is more than a handwriting choice — it is an early reading move. These five letters appear in virtually every word a child will ever read or write; no other set of five works nearly as hard. Naming them as a team ('these are the vowels — every word needs at least one') plants a concept that phonics lessons will build on for years, and tracing them together attaches that concept to the child's own hand. It also makes a natural review day: the five letters come from different corners of the alphabet, so the page quietly re-tests strokes learned across many earlier sessions.
