My First Big Letters: Tracing A, B, C and D

This is a first-ever letter tracing worksheet: just four letters — A, B, C and D — printed extra large. Each capital fills its line with big dashed models, sized so that a small hand steering a chunky pencil has room to succeed. The child traces each giant letter, and at the end of the line tries one alone in the empty space. Four letters is the entire page, and for a three- or four-year-old, four letters is exactly enough.

First letters deserve to be big. A young child writes from the shoulder and elbow long before the fingers take over, and oversized models meet that stage instead of fighting it — the same A that would be a scribble at normal size comes out recognizable at this scale, and recognizable means proud. The four letters are chosen as carefully as the size: A introduces slanted lines, B stacks two bumps on a stick, C is a single open curve, D pairs a stick with one big bow. Between them, these four cover almost every basic move the rest of the alphabet will recycle — which is why ABCD has been the classic starting lineup for generations.
