Beginning Sounds Worksheet
Beginning Sounds with Easter — Letter F
The letter F sets this beginning-sound hunt. Among the Easter things, the child marks every name that opens with the sound F makes — feather and flower. They test each picture by saying it: feather starts with F, so it counts. Listening for an opening sound and linking it to its letter — never spotting a printed F — is the early-reading skill this Kindergarten sheet rehearses.
To find what begins with F, a child must say each picture and isolate its first sound, then judge whether it matches F. That is the heart of early phonics — knowing the sound a letter makes and catching it at the front of words like feather. The varied an egg, a bunny and a basket keep a wide set of opening sounds in play, so the work never narrows to one rehearsed answer; the child really has to listen.
Once a child can pick the F sound out of a word like feather, that same careful listening works everywhere. When this sheet feels easy, move on to the B-sound pictures in easter, or the C-sound pictures in easter. Every beginning-sounds worksheet and the full Easter things set are free to print or play online for kindergarten, and each first sound a child names makes the next letter that little bit quicker to catch.
