Dot to Dot: Count On from 11 to 30 with No Outline

Nothing is printed inside the panel of this Kindergarten dot to dot except the dots themselves. Twenty of them, numbered 11 to 30, are scattered across the cream square with 11 ringed in orange, and every line of the finished picture has to come from the child's pencil. The counting strip below runs the full 11 to 30 so the sequence is available to check against, but the shape gives away nothing at all until it is drawn.

Counting on from a number other than one is a different skill from reciting the count, and this page makes the difference plain: there is no 1 to fall back on and no outline to hint at where the next dot should be. Twenty steps also carry the child across the twenties, where the pattern of the number names finally becomes regular after the teens. A dot missed here leaves an obvious slash across the middle of the drawing, so the page corrects itself.

Print the PDF free and leave the counting strip uncovered; reading 23 and then hunting for it is the work, not remembering it. This is the longest of the dot to dot pages. If twenty dots is too far, the teen version stops at 20, and the 1 to 10 version prints most of the outline in advance. Once the child counts on confidently to 30, the number line page asks for the same numbers to be found on a line instead of in a scatter.
