Trace the Longer Words: Skateboard, Airplane, Dinosaur

Skateboard, airplane, dinosaur. Three toys, three long words, and every one of them at least eight letters. This Kindergarten tracing page keeps the layout the shorter versions use - a picture card on the left with the word printed under it, a dashed copy to trace on the first line and empty lines beneath - but the words themselves now run most of the way across the page, so the child has to keep going long after the easy part is over.

Long words are where letter formation meets stamina. A child can produce a neat three-letter word and still let a ten-letter one drift uphill, shrink at the end, or lose a letter in the middle, and this page makes all three of those visible in a single row. Size is the thing to watch: because the word must fit the line, the letters have to stay the same height from the first to the last rather than growing as the hand tires.

Print the PDF free and let the child rest the pencil between words if the row was hard work; three long words done well is worth more than a page rushed. Only three rows appear here for that reason. The fruit version uses words of three to five letters if these are still too much, and the vehicles version sits between the two at four rows.
