About this activity

Grandpa Pip needs his hand-carved nesting pots tucked away, biggest number on the outside down to little Wee Olen in the middle, and children read the numeral painted on each pot's belly to decide the order. It's a free, interactive Kindergarten math activity that plays right in the browser with nothing to install and no account.

The pots come in every size on purpose, so a small pot can wear a big number — the child has to read the written number, not guess by how big the pot looks. Each new pot must hold a smaller number than the one before it; two pots with the same number rest side by side instead of nesting. Later rounds fade the helper dots, add a gap to fill with the number that fits between two neighbors, and bring in two-digit numbers like 31 and 40.

It is aligned to Common Core K.CC.C.7 — comparing two written numbers between 1 and 10. No timer, no score — just calm, playful practice.

How to play

Read the number painted on each pot waiting in the tray.

Tap the pot with the biggest number, then tap the glowing open pot to tuck it in — keep going down to the smallest.

Wrong number? The pot bobs back out with a gentle nudge; try another, with no timer and no score.
