Singular and Plural Worksheet
One and Many: Longer Words with Rocket, Helicopter and Excavator
The words on this Kindergarten singular and plural page are the long ones. Rocket, helicopter, excavator, motorcycle - four vehicles, four rows, and every plural at least seven letters by the time the s is added. One vehicle with a badge reading 1 sits on the left of each row under its printed name; three of the same vehicle sit on the right under a badge reading 3, with the plural in dashed letters to trace and an empty line beneath it.
Every ending on this page is a plain s, which is deliberate: with words this long the child has enough to manage without a spelling change as well. Helicopters is twelve letters, and writing it once from a dashed model is a genuine piece of work for a five-year-old. Three pictures rather than two on the many side also matters - it stops the child reading the badge as a picture of the word two, and makes many mean more than one rather than exactly two.
Print the PDF free and let the child trace, say the word, then write. Four long rows may be enough for one sitting; there is no harm in doing two rows now and two later. The first words page uses three short animal names if these are too long, and covers the es ending that this page leaves alone. The trace and write words page builds the handwriting stamina these plurals need, and the a or an page works on the small word in front.
