About this activity
Mossbeard the Story-Keeper shares two short tales — a fox who lost his cap and kept trying until he found it, a bunny who lost her ball and got help from a friend — and the child compares what happened to the two characters by tapping event cards like "Lost it, then found it" and "A friend helped." This free, interactive Grade 1 reading activity runs in the browser with no sign-up.
The big idea is comparing experiences across two stories. In a "same" round the child finds the one event that happened in BOTH tales; in a "different" round, the event that happened in only ONE. The cards on offer always mix a shared event with events that belong to just a single story, so a child cannot answer from one tale alone — they have to hold both stories in mind and check each card against both before choosing.
It is aligned to Common Core RL.1.9 — comparing and contrasting the adventures and experiences of characters in stories. No timer, no score — just calm, playful practice.
