Open the Prepositions Worksheet Maker
Navigate to the Prepositions Worksheet Maker page and click the launch button to open the generator in your browser. The tool loads instantly with a settings sidebar on the left and a live preview canvas on the right. No account creation, no software download, no installation required.
The canvas shows the preposition worksheet preview that updates as you change settings. The settings sidebar contains all the controls you need: exercise mode selection, preposition checkbox grid, image and shape configuration, page layout options, exercise count, font and text settings, and export controls. Take a moment to explore the sidebar panels to familiarize yourself with the available options before starting your first worksheet.
The Prepositions Worksheet Maker uses a Fabric.js canvas that provides professional layout tools including alignment options plus center-on-page, layers with lock and unlock for individual elements, zoom from 25 to 300 percent, and undo/redo. These tools give you precise control over the final worksheet layout without needing external design software.
2
Set the Page Layout and Template
In the Page Setup section, select your page size. Options include Letter Portrait, Letter Landscape, A4 Portrait, A4 Landscape, Square (1200 by 1200 pixels), and custom dimensions. Letter is standard for North American buyers on Etsy and Gumroad. A4 is standard for European and international markets. Creating both versions doubles your addressable market with minimal additional effort.
Choose a worksheet template from the template selector. Each template arranges exercises differently on the page, giving you visual variety across worksheets without changing the underlying content. Different templates suit different exercise counts — some arrangements work better with 2 to 3 exercises while others accommodate 6 to 8 exercises cleanly.
Set your page background color for the base canvas. Then add a themed background pattern from the background library with an adjustable opacity slider. A subtle background at 15 to 25 percent opacity adds visual warmth without competing with the image scenes. Layer a decorative border from the border library for a polished frame. Background and border themes work independently, so you can mix and match combinations freely. Consistent background and border pairings across a product bundle create a cohesive look that buyers associate with quality.
3
Choose Your Exercise Mode
The Prepositions Worksheet Maker offers two exercise modes, and selecting the right one determines the learner experience and the type of product you create.
Fill-in-the-Blank mode presents an image scene with a blank line where solvers write the correct preposition from memory. The user sees a cat sitting on a box and must produce the word "on" independently without any prompts. This active-recall format tests deeper understanding of spatial relationships because the user must retrieve the correct position word entirely from their own vocabulary. Fill-in-the-Blank is ideal for older solvers (grades 2 and up), intermediate ESL learners who need to transition from recognition to production, and assessment worksheets where sellers need to verify genuine understanding rather than recognition ability.
Multiple Choice mode shows the same image scene but with selectable answer options. The user sees a cat sitting on a box and chooses "on" from options like "on, under, beside." This scaffolded format reduces frustration for beginners and younger learners who recognize position words when they see them but cannot yet produce them reliably. Multiple Choice mode includes a customizable instruction line that you can edit to match your product context — change it to "Circle the correct preposition," "Choose the word that tells where," or any phrasing that suits your target audience. This customizable text is a selling point in your product listings because it shows buyers the worksheet can be adapted to different usage routines.
Both modes produce the same professional output quality with the same image scenes. The difference is cognitive demand: production versus recognition. Many successful sellers create both versions of each themed worksheet and sell them together as differentiated sets. Sellers create tiered products where buyers assign Multiple Choice to struggling learners and Fill-in-the-Blank to advanced solvers, using the same visual content at two difficulty levels.

Select Prepositions
The preposition checkbox grid displays all 7 available position words for the selected language. Check the prepositions you want to include in the worksheet: on, under, above, beside, between, inside, and outside. You can select all 7 for comprehensive spatial language practice or focus on a specific subset for targeted instruction.
Strategic preposition selection creates premium products that serve specific instructional needs. Select only "inside" and "outside" for a containment-focused worksheet ideal for the preschool-age niche covering basic spatial concepts. Select "between" and "beside" for a proximity-focused worksheet addressing the position words solvers most commonly confuse. Select "on," "under," and "above" for a vertical-spatial worksheet that teaches the three vertical relationships as a group. These targeted selections create targeted products that buyers pay premium prices for because they match specific lesson objectives.
The checkbox grid updates automatically when you switch languages. English displays "on, under, above, beside, between, inside, outside." German displays "auf, unter, über, neben, zwischen, drinnen, draußen." French displays "sur, sous, au-dessus, à côté, entre, dedans, dehors." Every supported language shows its correct native preposition words in the grid, so you always know exactly which terms will appear on the generated worksheet. This transparency is essential for creating linguistically accurate products in languages you may not speak fluently.
For product variety, create multiple worksheets with different preposition subsets from the same theme. A "Complete Prepositions" pack might include separate worksheets for vertical prepositions (on, under, above), proximity prepositions (beside, between), and containment prepositions (inside, outside), plus a mixed worksheet using all 7. This structured approach to preposition grouping creates a product with clear pedagogical progression that buyers recognize as professionally designed.

Select Images and Theme
Open the Image Library panel and browse 104 themed collections with over 3,100 colorful illustrations. Categories span animals, food, vehicles, nature, holidays, professions, sports, seasons, and dozens more. Use the search bar to find specific themes quickly.
Each image appears in a scene context that demonstrates the selected spatial relationship. A cat image might appear on a box, under a table, beside a chair, or between two shelves — the spatial placement changes based on which preposition the exercise targets. This means the same image library produces varied exercise scenes as you change preposition selections, multiplying your visual content without needing additional images.
Use Manual Selection to pick specific images from a theme when you want precise control over which illustrations appear in each exercise. Select All Themes to let the tool choose automatically from the entire library for maximum variety. Manual Selection is ideal for themed products where every image matches a specific category (all animals, all vehicles, all food items), while All Themes works well for general practice worksheets with diverse visual content.
Upload your own PNG or JPEG images alongside library content for branded designs. Custom uploads create unique products that no competitor can replicate: branded mascot preposition worksheets, branded homeschool materials, and personalized activity sheets become exclusive products impossible to find elsewhere. Custom images work for both the main image and the shape replacement layer, giving you complete control over every visual element.
6
Configure Shape Replacement
Shape Replacement is the feature that sets the Prepositions Worksheet Maker apart from any competing spatial language tool. It adds a separate image layer for scene shapes — the objects that define the spatial context of each exercise. While the main image is the subject (a cat, a ball, a book), the shape is the reference object that establishes the spatial relationship (a box, a table, a shelf, a basket).
Swap shapes independently from main images to multiply your visual variety. A cat on a box, a cat on a table, a cat on a shelf, and a cat on a basket are four visually distinct exercise scenes from the same cat image. Scale this across your full image set: 10 main images combined with 10 different shapes produce 100 unique exercise scenes. This multiplication effect is the key to creating large product bundles and comprehensive workbooks without needing a proportionally large source image library.
Choose shapes via Manual Selection from a specific theme for curated scene combinations, or select All Themes to access the full shape library. The shape layer uses the same 104 themed collections as the main image library, giving you thousands of possible combinations. You can also upload custom shape images in PNG or JPEG format for branded scene elements.
For product creation, strategic shape selection amplifies your bundle sizes significantly. A "Household Prepositions" pack might use furniture shapes (table, chair, shelf, bed) with various object images. A "Nature Prepositions" pack might use outdoor shapes (tree, rock, pond, fence) with animal images. Each thematic combination of main images and shapes creates a distinct product with its own visual identity, even though the underlying preposition exercises and educational value remain consistent.
7
Customize Text, Fonts, and Exercise Count
Set the exercise count from 1 to 8 exercises per page. This is your primary density control that creates natural product tiers. Setting 2 to 3 exercises per page gives each scene generous visual space with large, clear images — ideal for the preschool-age market and kindergartners who need prominent visuals to identify spatial relationships. Setting 4 to 5 exercises provides moderate density suitable for elementary-age solvers. Setting 7 to 8 exercises creates dense worksheets for timed practice, assessment contexts, or older learners comfortable processing multiple spatial scenes quickly. The layout adapts automatically to the selected count and page size.
Choose from 7 font families to match your product's visual style and target age group. Lexend Deca offers clean, modern readability optimized for emerging readers. Baloo 2 provides a rounded, friendly appearance popular with early childhood materials. Nunito is a balanced sans-serif that works across age groups. Quicksand adds a geometric, modern feel. Fredoka delivers a playful, rounded look ideal for preschool products. Arial and Verdana provide classic, widely-recognized clarity.
Toggle name and date fields on or off depending on your target market. Worksheets with name/date fields add a professional touch for structured use. Digital download products sold to parents often look cleaner without them.
Use the Fabric.js canvas tools to fine-tune element placement. Alignment options plus center-on-page let you position text and elements precisely. Lock individual elements to prevent accidental movement while adjusting others. The layer system controls which elements appear in front of or behind others. Zoom in for pixel-level precision, then zoom out to review the full worksheet. Undo and redo let you experiment freely without risk.
8
Generate and Download
Click Generate to build the preposition worksheet. The canvas updates with your configured exercise scenes showing objects in spatial relationships, blank lines or multiple choice options depending on your selected mode, and the preposition words in the selected language. Review the preview: check that spatial relationships are clear, preposition words are correct, exercise count matches your intended density, and the overall layout looks professional.
Click Generate again to produce a completely different worksheet with new image-shape combinations and exercise arrangements. Each generation creates unique visual content, enabling rapid batch production — generate, review, download, repeat. This instant regeneration is how you build large product bundles efficiently.
The auto-generated answer key shows the correct preposition for each exercise, providing a clear solution reference. Both worksheet and answer key are available as separate downloads, giving you 4 files per session: worksheet JPEG, worksheet PDF, answer key JPEG, and answer key PDF. All files render at 300 DPI for print-ready output.
Toggle grayscale before downloading for ink-friendly black-and-white versions ideal for bulk printing and Amazon KDP interiors. Grayscale preposition worksheets maintain full functionality because the exercises rely on spatial positioning of objects, not color.
For marketplace listings, export both PDF (as your deliverable product) and JPEG (for listing preview images and social media promotion). Show the scene-based exercise format in your listing thumbnail — the visual spatial relationship format stands out against plain text grammar worksheet listings.
Important: the free trial with watermark produces fully functional exports with a visible watermark overlay. This lets you evaluate print quality, verify formatting, and create test prints before purchasing a commercial license. The commercial license removes the watermark from all exports, producing clean files ready for sale.
